Hegseth Sits Absolutely Dumbfounded as Tim Kaine Rips Him to Shreds

If you wanted a masterclass in how to completely melt down under pressure while trying to fail upward into a cabinet position, boy, do I have the video for you.

Senator Tim Kaine recently took Pete Hegseth out to the woodshed during a high-stakes confirmation hearing. Watching it unfold in real time is something else.

If you haven’t seen the fireworks yet, let’s break down how this absolute car crash of a hearing went down.

2:5

The Monterey Incident and Staggering Entitlement

Right out of the gate, Kaine went straight for a 2017 incident down in Monterey, California.

And Hegseth—unbelievable as it sounds—actually had to admit on the record that, yeah, he had a consensual hookup while he was still married to his second wife.

Get this: it was literally two months after having a baby with the woman who became his third wife.

His defense? “Oh, I was fully investigated and completely cleared.”

Cleared of what, exactly? Just cheating on your spouse like it’s a hobby? Watching him try to spin that kind of rank hypocrisy while auditioning to run the entire Department of Defense is staggering. The sheer entitlement is unbelievable.

Hiding the Truth from the Transition Team

Naturally, Kaine took it a step further and asked the obvious question: Did you tell Donald Trump or the transition team about any of this?

The criminal complaint? The investigation? The cash settlement?

And what does Hegseth do? He starts hiding behind a wall of non-disclosure agreements.

Right. Because of course he didn’t tell them.

Why would you be honest with the future commander-in-chief when you know your little mess would tank your chances? It’s just so typical. Rules for thee, absolute secrecy for me.

He knew it was toxic. Everyone in that room knew it was toxic. He just hoped nobody would look under the hood.

Workplace Allegations and Pushing Back

But it wasn’t even just his personal life on trial.

Kaine started pulling out actual, on-the-record letters and complaints from former colleagues at veterans groups and Fox News.

We are talking about serious, documented reports of showing up to work under the influence, erratic behavior, and—wait for it—an actual sexual harassment charge after a wild night out involving a strip club.

And Hegseth’s brilliant response? “Oh, those are anonymous false claims.”

Except—surprise, surprise—they aren’t anonymous! Kaine hit him with the receipts, right down to names and family records.

The Bar is in the Subterranean Earth

To wrap the whole chaotic thing up, they literally had to enter a family court order into the record. Why? Just to establish that, hey, at least there were no claims of domestic abuse in that specific parenting agreement.

Like, wow. The bar is truly deep in the subterranean earth, isn’t it?

We are handing out participation trophies for “well, at least there wasn’t domestic violence in that file.”

Even with that logged, the damage was already done. The entire facade was completely stripped away.

Final Thoughts

At the end of the day, watching Tim Kaine methodically dismantle this nomination was deeply satisfying.

At the same time, it’s terrifying that someone with this mountain of baggage was even put forward in the first place. This is what accountability looks like, folks.
